Ann and Matt tied the knot last May in true Cape Cod fashion: steps from the sand, against a jaw-dropping background of Nantucket sound, and with their chocolate Labrador in attendance – looking very dapper in a blue bowtie and matching leash, we might add. We are grateful to First Mate Photo for capturing the day with such grace, and for sharing these photographs with us.
The wedding day décor took its cues from the seaside environment, with gorgeous square reception tables in varnished wood and coordinating folding chairs evocative of classic yachts. And with such pretty woodwork on display, there was no need for linens; instead, every table had an artful display of geodes, coral, driftwood and party popper favors scattered at the base of each flower arrangement. Florals included grey green, delicate blues and cheerful yellows, with pops of luscious tropical specimens like air plants, tea leaves, ‘roo paws and peace lilies.
The bride looked stunning in a strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline, and added a fun and beachy flare to her look with flowers behind her ear and at the wrist, while the groom sported a clean and classic suit of pewter grey with a black tie and cognac leather shoes and belt.
After dressing in one of the waterfront location’s guest suites, the bride was able to sneak down to the resort’s private beach where the groom was waiting for a first look, and then to pose for pictures. The couple was joined by their bridal party – groomsmen in suits of sharp black, bridesmaids in grey tea-length dresses – and then it was time to walk down the aisle.
The pair tied the knot on the resort’s lawn overlooking the water, in a heartfelt ceremony officiated by a friend. Pennant banners in shades of white and blue flapped cheerfully in the breeze around the guests, and helped delineate the ceremony space from the rest of the event. After saying their vows, the couple was joined by their pup, who was so ecstatic he leaped for joy, and raced up the aisle with the happy newlyweds as they made their exit.
Then it was time to celebrate, first on the lawn with mini margaritas, a raw bar and delicious passed hors d’oeuvres such as rubbed lamp chop lollipops with fresh mint aioli, and mini lobster rolls. Afterwards, the party moved into the tented reception area, where dinner was served in a series of stations, exquisitely laid out with bountiful spreads. All in all, a perfect evening, and a joy for us to have been a part of.
